たけい ひとし●1964年米国ペンシルベニア州にあるボーディングスクール、ワイオミング・セミナリー日本人卒業生第1号。ボーディングスクール留学の草分けである。
米系航空会社に35年勤務の傍ら後輩日本人留学生の発掘、援助を行う。自分の息子も日本の公立中学2年を終えた時点で母校ワイオミング・セミナリーの9年生に入学させており、自ら留学生として、また留学生を持つ親としての豊富な経験をもつ。
1988年6月、同年9月からボーディングスクールに行く息子の英語の特訓のために恩師サンフォード・ローザー氏宅でのホームステイを計画、その他に4名、計5名の中学生を連れてマサチューセッツ州マーサスヴィニアード島での英語特訓合宿生活を始める。
これがオーガストハウス・プログラムの発端でオーガスト・ハウスという名称はその時の5人の子供達がそう呼ぶようになったのがきっかけ。 その後、口伝えに韓国、台湾、タイ、ブラジル、ドイツ、その他の国々に広まり、最初は日本人の子供を対象に始めたプログラムが、現在では本当のインターナショナルプログラムになり、多くのボーディングスクールからプログラムの劇的効果を認められている。
航空会社を定年退職したあとはオーガストハウス・プログラムにいままで以上に情熱を注いでこれからの日本の子供達を世界に送り出すことを夢としている。

My wife, my son, and I would like to welcome you to our home on Martha's Vineyard, MA. We moved here in 1967 when I began teaching in the local high school. For twenty eight years I taught all levels of English and when I retired, I directed and developed the language program for August House on the island. During these last years I have helped many students become better prepared to enter American schools. My twenty eight years of experience added to my ten years at August House have helped me understand the unique problems that Asian students face when coming to America. Besides explaining and teaching the essential skills of reading, composition, vocabulary, and note taking, I explain how American schools are different from their own schools. Because the systems are so very different, it is vital that the students understand this before the school year begins, not after. The first days of school are often the most confusing. What I show them makes that difficult time easier for them. Our home is in a very quiet part of Vineyard Haven and was built by us in 1970. It follows a classic American colonial style and is comfortably decorated with antiques. Students who have been here marvel at the historic feel in the house. After rising at 8:30, students have class until 12:30. Classes start after lunch at 2:00 and generally continue until 5:30. at times we change the schedule to accommodate special activities. After dinner there is a study hall each evening until 9:30 when I answer their questions and review the day's work. リロイ・ヘーゼルトン●1967年にマーサス・ヴィニアード島のハイスクールで教鞭を取り始めて以来、３８年間にわたり英語（現地では国語）の教育一筋で現在に至る。
オーガストハウスプログラムでは１０年以上、10代の外国人留学生特にアジアからの留学生に対する英語特訓プログラムやカウンセリングに熱心に取り組み高い評価を得ている。前任のサンフォード・ローザーに劣らぬ情熱とその経験は、日本からの留学生達に大きな自信をもたらしてくれる。
